The Flying Wing

At Mission Peak today... this guy was flying his radio-controlled flying wing. It's really more like a hang-glider than an airplane, since he only uses the propeller when there isn't sufficient updraft. It's almost always windy at the Peak, where real hang-gliders and para-sailors regularly soar.

This wing was way cool. Aside from flying sideways, he could do rolls... didn't see him do a loop-de-loop, though. Amazingly stable.

Divine Performing Arts

This was a fun night of classical Chinese dance. I don't know anything about classical dance, and it's really not as hard to appreciate as Chinese opera. In any case, they give you the Cliff Notes for each performance. It's a sampler from various regions.

They use a projected background, with computer animation, and integrate it into the live action on the stage. At first, it feels a bit tacky like those kung-fu tv shows, but this is a travelling show and it's nicely done... even the karaoke parts? Yes, even the karaoke parts....

Oh, and the best part... tickets from mybart.org. Good seats, too! Mom & I bought sandwiches from Jenjon's Cafe before getting on bart, and ate them downstairs at the Opera House.
